Abstract: The authors present the integration of a solar thermal energy performance model in an already existing solar atlas infrastructure. With this tool, the user will be able to select the design parameters of a solar power plant and the key performance indicators will be delivered. In particular, this paper presents the two performance models proposed to assess the performance of utility-scale solar thermal power plants. The results of these models have been used for the evaluation of the potential of solar energy in the Arabian Peninsula.
